Greg Maurer Managing Director/Founder |
Mr. Maurer brings a diverse set of business and
legal skills to Heron Capital. Mr. Maurer concentrates on
medical devices, and leads the firm's efforts for
cardiovascular investments. Prior to forming the Fund, Mr.
Maurer worked as a corporate attorney at Schiff Hardin, L.L.P.
in Chicago, Illinois, concentrating on mergers and
acquisitions, venture finance and other financing
transactions, and private placements. Mr. Maurer also worked
for The National Bank of Indianapolis, where he managed the
bank's real estate and branch expansion activities. Mr. Maurer
also co-managed privately-held real estate investments in
Indianapolis. Mr. Maurer received his J.D. from Washington
University in St. Louis, Missouri and his B.S. in Finance and
International Business from Indiana University.
Mr. Maurer currently represents Heron Capital as a Director
on the Board of NeoChord, Inc. and as a board observer on IDev
Technologies, Inc.

Kevin Etzkorn Managing Director |
Mr. Etzkorn brings over eight years of
venture capital experience and more than a decade of
operational and technical management experience to the Fund.
Prior to joining Heron, Mr. Etzkorn was a Principal at CID
Capital, a life science and technology venture fund. While at
CID, his portfolio responsibilities included: Axiomed Spine
Corporation, Bridge Semiconductor Corporation, EKOS
Corporation, HyperNex, Inc. (acquired by Nova Measuring
Instruments) and Renal Solutions, Inc. (acquired by Fresenius
Medical Care).
Prior to joining CID Capital in 2001, Mr. Etzkorn spent
thirteen years in the U.S. Navy in a variety of technical and
supervisory roles, most recently as a Nuclear Engineer and
Communications Officer aboard the Fleet Ballistic Missile
Submarine USS ALASKA, where he was responsible for the
establishment and management of its Information Technology
Department. He also served as an Assistant Professor in the
Department of Naval Science at the University of Illinois. Mr.
Etzkorn has served as an advisor to the National Science
Foundation for the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)
Program and as an advisory board member for the Telemark
Group, a New York based investment fund. He received his
M.B.A. from the University of Illinois and a bachelor's degree
in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of
Wisconsin.
Currently, Mr. Etzkorn serves as a Director on the Board of
AirXpanders and Celleration and is a board observer for
BioSET, Inc. He also led the firm's investment in
Atlantis Components, Inc. which was sold to Astra Tech AB, a
subsidiary of AstraZeneca, in 2007.

Shannon Rothschild Venture Partner |
Ms. Rothschild received her B.A. from Tulane
University, and both her M.B.A. and M.H.A. from Indiana
University. Prior to joining the Fund, Ms. Rothschild was
Manager of Product Design and Development with Humana, Inc.,
one of the nation's largest health benefits companies. Ms.
Rothschild's diverse prior experience includes strategic
advisor for McKesson HBOC; designing and managing large payer
and venture financed healthcare IT initiatives at RealMed;
executive level education at Indiana University; and
consulting with Caduceus Partners. Ms. Rothschild offers a
diverse healthcare and business background to the Fund.
